Skin Boosters
Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve the overall quality, hydration and appearance of the skin, rather than adding significant volume or changing the shape of your facial features. They can be used to support skin that appears dehydrated, dull, uneven or lacking in elasticity, helping to promote a fresher, healthier-looking complexion.
At Summer House Wellness, I currently offer two types of skin booster treatment, each selected according to your individual skin concerns and goals.
Skin Boosters in Redhill
Hydration-focused skin boosters typically use hyaluronic acid to deliver hydration within the skin. Rather than creating the volumising effect associated with traditional dermal fillers, these treatments are designed to improve skin hydration and overall skin quality, helping the skin to appear smoother, fresher and more radiant.
They may be particularly suited to skin that feels dry or dehydrated, or has begun to look dull or tired. The aim is a subtle improvement in skin quality and luminosity while maintaining your natural appearance..
Hydrating skin Boosters
Regenerative skin boosters use polynucleotides, which are increasingly used in aesthetic medicine as a biostimulatory treatment to support skin rejuvenation and revitalisation. Polynucleotides are thought to work within the skin's environment to support tissue repair and dermal remodelling, with research suggesting potential improvements in skin texture, elasticity and hydration. The evidence base is still developing, so results and response can vary between individuals.
This treatment may be considered where the focus is on improving overall skin quality rather than simply adding hydration. With a course of treatment, the aim is to support healthier-looking, more resilient skin and a gradual improvement in texture and appearance.
Regenerative skin Boosters
Skin boosters are delivered through a series of small injections into the skin, introducing ingredients designed to improve skin quality rather than create significant volume or alter your facial shape.
Hydration-focused boosters typically contain hyaluronic acid, which has a natural ability to attract and retain water within the skin. This can help improve hydration and contribute to a smoother, fresher and more radiant appearance.
Polynucleotide skin boosters take a different approach. Polynucleotides are thought to support the skin's natural repair and remodelling processes and may help improve aspects of skin quality such as texture and elasticity. The evidence for these treatments is encouraging, although research is still developing and results can vary between individuals.
The aim of both treatments is to support healthier-looking skin from within, with results developing gradually rather than creating an immediate change in facial shape or volume.
How do Skin Boosters work?
Who May be suitable?
Skin boosters may be suitable for adults who would like to improve the overall quality and appearance of their skin, particularly where the skin appears dehydrated, dull, uneven or lacking in elasticity. They can be considered across a range of ages and skin types, depending on your individual concerns and treatment goals.
Your suitability will be assessed during your consultation, taking into consideration your skin, medical history, previous treatments and what you would like to achieve. We will discuss whether a hydration-focused or regenerative skin booster is more appropriate for you, or whether another treatment may be better suited to your needs.
Your journey at Summer House Wellness begins with a consultation with me, where we'll discuss your concerns, medical history and desired outcome.Skin boosters are not a one-size-fits-all treatment, and the most appropriate option will depend on your skin, concerns and desired outcome. During your consultation, we will discuss your skin quality and goals and recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for you.
The aim is not to change your features, but to support and enhance the quality of your skin, creating a subtle, refreshed and natural-looking result.
What To Expect At The Consultation
What to expect with Skin Boosters
Treatment time: 30-45 minutesWhat to expect: Small injections are made into the skin, and you may experience some temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or small bumps at the injection sites. These effects are generally temporary and should settle as the skin recovers. Results: Results develop gradually and will depend on the type of skin booster used. Hydration-focused treatments may help the skin appear fresher, smoother and more hydrated, while polynucleotide treatments are designed to support improvements in overall skin quality over time.Longevity & maintenance: How long results last varies depending on the treatment, the product used and your individual skin. A course of treatments may be recommended initially, followed by maintenance treatments to help support and prolong your results. Your practitioner will discuss a treatment plan suited to your skin and goals.Treatment After Care
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and significant heat exposure for the first 24–48 hours, as these can increase redness and swelling.
Avoid touching, rubbing or massaging the treated area unnecessarily, particularly during the first 24 hours. This helps minimise irritation while the small injection sites settle.
Small bumps, redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur around the injection points and are generally temporary. Allow time for the skin to settle and for the treatment results to develop gradually.
Give your skin time to settle and avoid makeup and strong or active skincare products, such as retinoids and exfoliating acids, immediately following treatment. Your practitioner will advise you when to reintroduce these.
FAQs
What is the difference between hydration and regenerative skin boosters?
1
Hydration skin boosters are primarily focused on improving moisture levels within the skin, helping it to appear smoother, fresher and more radiant. Regenerative skin boosters use polynucleotides and are focused more broadly on supporting skin quality, including aspects such as texture and elasticity. The most appropriate option will depend on your individual skin and treatment goals.
Will Skin Boosters add volume to my face?
2
No. Skin boosters are designed primarily to improve skin quality rather than create the structural volume or contouring associated with traditional dermal fillers. They are injected into the skin to support hydration and other aspects of skin quality, depending on the product used.
How many treatments will I need of Skin Boosters?
3
The number of treatments will depend on the specific skin booster being used, your skin and the results you are hoping to achieve. Some treatments are recommended as a course, followed by maintenance treatments as appropriate. Your personalised treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation.
When will I see results?
4
Results can develop gradually and will vary depending on the treatment and individual. Hydration-focused treatments may produce an improvement in skin hydration and appearance relatively quickly, while polynucleotide treatments are generally considered more gradual, with changes in skin quality developing over time.
